A different kind of Greek lesson
Greek that belongs in family life.
Greek.school provides private Greek classes in London for children aged four and above. The aim is not simply to complete a workbook. We help children speak, understand, read and gradually write Greek while connecting the language to family, stories, places, food, history, music and the wider inheritance of Greece.
Some children begin with very little Greek. Others understand what parents or grandparents say but answer mainly in English. Others already speak confidently and need help with reading, writing and richer expression. Teaching starts from the child’s actual level rather than from an assumed school year.
What happens in a 75-minute lesson?
The standard home visit lasts seventy-five minutes and changes pace throughout. A typical lesson combines conversation and retrieval from the previous week, reading or phonics, a story or heritage theme, an active task, a short piece of personalised digital practice and a brief parent handover.
For younger children, particularly at four and five, activities are deliberately shorter and more physical: pictures, objects, movement, songs, maps, matching, drawing and storytelling. The seventy-five minutes is the whole teaching visit, not seventy-five minutes of sitting at a desk.

We protect the child’s natural spoken Greek while building reading, writing, vocabulary and more precise expression.

Greek.school treats language as part of a larger inheritance. Children learn through conversation, books, stories, maps, mythology, history, food, music and family life. Where a family wishes, Greek Orthodox tradition can also form part of the heritage programme.
The aim is practical Greek that grows week by week, together with confidence, memory and a stronger connection to family and Greece.
